Toronto's Anila Zayger: How a Movin Ebike Transformed Her Student Life
We’d like to introduce you to Toronto beauty queen, Anila Zayger. She uses a Movin Ebike every day, riding to university, traveling around the city, and enjoying life in a huge metropolis where heavy traffic is a challenge even for a professional driver.
We decided to interview Anila for this Movin Ebikes Blog post and introduce you her life and reasons why did she buy our ebike
Hi Anila, who are you and when did you choose ebike as your main transport? Hello, my name is Anila Zayger. I’m from Scarborough, Ontario, Canada, and I'm student of UoT. I’ve been riding different ebikes and regular bikes for almost 4 years and I can confidently say that it's become a way of life for me—a chance to escape the hustle and bustle of university and other tasks in a huge metropolis like Toronto. I have a boyfriend who gifted me a Movin Ebike. I was satisfied with my previous bike, but when you're unexpectedly invited into a store with the claim, "Look how bright they are—you can't help but notice them on the street," and then you end up receiving a gift, it's impossible to say no. I'll be honest, I was a skeptic at first—after all, why would I need another bike when I'm already happy with my own? But after riding the new one for about a week and a half through different parks and bike paths by the lake, I definitely realized that this choice was well worth it. I especially loved its lightness and battery range. And honestly, the store is amazing—everything is so vibrant and colorful. I could talk about it forever, but what else would you like to know?
Did you make any videos/pictures from you day-to-day travels to enjoy with you? Yeah, it usually takes Between 30 minutes to 1.5 hours to travel. I like High Park, Dandas Squere zone, Distillery District, Scarborough caves and Park/trail near Science Center. So, I’m pretty quick at choosing new location for riding, but it’s still a process to get there and enjoy it. And I'm really happy. Very happy, that I can you public transport with this ebike. The size is pritty small and light so I can easily put it in front of the bus and travel wherever I need. Also this Spring I'm planing to start my Youtube channel, about travels inside the city, some beautiful spots for couples and which places are more beautiful for different seasons. Thanks Rob for this present and I love you.
Do you enjoy being in front of the camera? I’m actually a lot better behind the camera than in front of it. That's why I’ll buy GoPro and start this day-by-day videos soon. My boyfriend support the idea to make this king of content, so I hope it'll become my new big hobby.
What's your day job? I’m mostly studing in University of Toronto, but also I'm working as a florist after studing. I love flowers and nature, they brings me feel myself like a little princess and traveler in this big world. I traveled all over Ontario and sometimes into Quebec and Nova Scotia. I almost always bring my Movin Mini Ebike, to other towns with me, and try to find some cool little adventures. That’s how I got lost in Montreal!
What's your dream job? Hmmm. I would have to definitely say a traveler but that is an incredibly hard thing to do. I still don't know how to collect money from it. So right now I just want to finish university and find a people who my to join me in my travels and will see what we'll be next.
Where do you live? I was born, raised, and live in Scarborough, Toronto, Canada. I’ll never leave. Except when I get rich and can have a winter home away from the snow. Snow’s fun to ride in but I still hate it
“I saw the Movin Mini Ebike and I knew I feel something special about it, and I planned on travel a lot, thats why I decided to try it.” -Anila
Are electric bikes popular in your area? How do people react to you on your Movin Ebike? Electric bikes are definitely gaining popularity in Scarborough and Toronto. I saw a lot of Movin Ebikes in Downtown. So I feel myself like a part of big family of different people who make this choice. We have a lot of trails here, inside and outside of the city. I don't know if its powerful enough to ride it on the trails somewhere in the forest. But it definetly the best option to enjoy the city trails, especially Downtown where its a big challenge to find empty parking spot.
When did you purchase your first electric bike and what made you decide to make the purchase? My first ebike was the EVO, and I rode it for about three years. My parents gave it to me at the beginning of my university studies as my first independent mode of transportation. I fell in love with it at first sight and enjoyed every moment of those three years. However, over time I began to notice that it was a bit heavy for me and that the battery started discharging much faster than initially promised. I eventually got used to these issues and didn't see them as a major problem. Still, it was really nice to receive such a gift from Rob and then have the chance to switch to a lighter, newer ebike—in just one day, no less. I definitely plan to buy a car in the next few years for longer trips, but the ebike will always remain a part of my life, embodying a sense of freedom and ease within a big city, even if I ride it less frequently.
What are your Travel plans/goals for 2025? My plan is to travel and explore Western Canada and the Northern USA. I want to gather a team of like-minded travelers and enjoy life to the fullest. I hope to finish university this year and try to find a remote job so I can combine work with my travels. More specifically, I want to visit Banff, Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver with my bike. Ideally, I'd also like to go to Detroit and the surrounding cities. And of course, I want to start making travel videos to show people that a quality bike matters in any situation.
