What was the most memorable situation for you, regarding with ebikes? I’ve traveled a lot over the last 10–15 years, and one of the most memorable events was the Hood to Coast ride in Oregon, USA. I went to visit my friends and ended up staying much longer than I expected. I had planned to attend the event as an observer, not as a participant, but my friends know just how to motivate you to take a risk. I didn't have enough strength or time to cover the entire distance, but I took part and enjoyed the experience.
What's your day job? I'm a commercial engineer. I mostly work across Ontario and try to visit other provinces when my company needs me there. I always try to spend my time in nature and I'm happy that I have a dream job and can do it perfectly.
What's your dream job? I will definitely continue my career as an engineer. I love creating, designing, and coming up with new projects. Traveling gives me a similar sense of moving forward and forging my own path. But you're asking about ebikes, right? Well, I’d say they allow me to travel further and cover more ground—making my journey more unique, without being limited by fatigue or road conditions (in most cases). I’ve grown to love this mode of transportation as a constant hobby.
Where do you live? I was born in India and spent my entire youth there. I'm an engineer by vocation and worked for a government company in India. Later, I received job offers from several companies in Canada—one in Calgary and one in Toronto. I found Toronto to be a more vibrant city, so I decided to take a risk and move here. The process was quite fast, both in terms of handling the paperwork and adapting to my new environment.
Are electric bikes popular in your area? How do people react to you on your Rize Bike? Electric bicycles have been growing in popularity, primarily in Canada and the US. I'm a devoted fan of cars and comfort, but ebikes are a curious blend of enjoying the outdoors while still providing comfort. They're definitely not the best transportation option for winter—unless you're not using them for work—but I don't know much about that aspect. However, the warm part of the year is certainly an excellent time for traveling with an ebike. Personally, I would choose one with fat tires because I prefer off-road trails outside the city, and for that, you need to be a bit more prepared. I hope I've answered your question.
When did you purchase your first electric bike and what made you decide to make the purchase? That's a tough question—I don't even remember exactly how long ago it was. I never planned on getting an ebike as something serious or deliberate. My friends played a big role; some of them are professional runners and cyclists. About 10 years ago, they invited me to several events, and I got used to spending time with them there. Then I decided to give it a try, and that's how my love for biking began, eventually growing into a passion for ebikes. But that's a long story that's still unfolding...
